Building a Library of Images for Everyone

edited April 20 in Everything Else

Hi everyone,

I've been building a library of images that you are welcome to use in your projects. They might be useful under titles, for visual effects or anything else you can think of. They are all original...all my own work. All I ask is to be attributed as indicated on my homepage:

http://soundimage.org/

The images are on my "TXR" pages (for "Textures.")

I'm adding new ones all the time, so be sure to check back often. I sincerely hope that some of them are useful. Any and all constructive feedback is welcome and always appreciated. :)" src="https://www.studentfilms.com/styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" alt=":)" />

All the best,

Eric

Nice! Textures are always useful! Thanks much! And music!

  • You're very welcome!

I've just uploaded about 70 new seamless metal textures. All are 2048X2048. Some have a "camo" look and might work well for military-themed objects. Others have intriguing patterns that might look cool in fantasy-based things. And some are just plain weird looking, but what the heck...give them a look. Hopefully some of them will be helpful.

(Scroll down...they live toward the bottom of the page.)

More are on the way.  :-)

  • Hi everyone,

I've uploaded about 20 additional seamless metal texture images to finish out the set from last week. Each is 2048X2048. For anyone who's interested, they all came from a retired DC-7 aircraft. I Hope some of them will be helpful.

(Scroll down...they live about half way down the page.)

    Have a good weekend!

oh, those DC7 images are nice!

  • EricMatyas - You've got some pretty neat stuff on your website. I can't access everything from a work computer but I'll be sure to check these out once my computer is up and running this weekend.

  • Thanks, guys, I appreciate it! And yeah, getting up close to that DC-7 was really fun!

I've uploaded about 150 new texture images, seamless and standard. As always, feel free to edit as needed. You'll find them here:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-bark/
    http://soundimage.org/txr-brick/

    http://soundimage.org/txr-rockstone/
    http://soundimage.org/txr-vegetation/
    http://soundimage.org/txr-wood/

Paper textures (for maps, backgrounds, etc.) are on their way as well. Hopefully I'll have a brand new page full of them by next week.  :-)

  • Wow, just realized you got textures, they are so Epic! I will deffantly use them :)

So 100% of everything you have personally taken with your camera etc?  They are not (c) taken from anywhere else?

So for example, you have personally gone out into the forest and taken those photos of all the trees etc?

So we can use them 100%?

My concern is that some of your material may be (c) from somewhere else so I then cannot use it legally.

    @Yeremyah the OP saying

"They are all original...all my own work. All I ask is to be attributed as indicated on my homepage."

    Is pretty clear. :-)

@Triem23, hence, I am seeking clarity to double check, so he personally took 100% of all those photos of trees, metals etc?

Where did he even find all those metals and rocks etc to take a photo of them? :P

  • Triem23Triem23 Moderator

@Yeremyah I'd say out and about. ;-) I mean the street in front of my house has all kinds of different asphalt textures. The outer walls alone can yield tons of great mottled textures, the kitchen counter sources two kinds of marble, the master bath has two other kinds of marble, slate and granite, the hill one minute from my house gives forest images, the wildlife preserve a five minute walk away has flowers, trees, berries, cacti, etc...

Eric hit an air show recently, so that's metals. I was supposed to go to an airplane show yesterday but have a stomach bug. Too bad, because I have a new camera bag that holds a lot of lenses!

Eric is more generous than I. I'm going through all my photos, videos and original music (slowly--we're talking tens of thousands of media clips) to try to sell to stock libraries. I'm hoping to make a few bucks.

    NM. :)

  • You're absolutely right...interesting textures are everywhere...so I've been trying to get into the habit of taking my camera with me everywhere I go. Some of my cool rusty metal textures, for example, were from barbecue grills at a park.

The aircraft that I recently took pictures of is a retired DC-7 and lives at a local airport. You can walk right up to, underneath it, etc. It's really cool.  :-)

Anyhow, I just opened a new page of paper textures that might be useful for maps, backgrounds and other things:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-paper/

As always, feel free to edit as needed.

Next week I'll begin adding distressed paper textures which should (hopefully) look really cool.

    Have a great weekend! :-)

  • Hi everyone,

As promised, I've added about 50 distressed paper textures. They might be useful for maps, backgrounds and other things.

    http://soundimage.org/txr-paper/

I hope some of them are helpful.  :-)

  • Epic pictures, I hope I can use some of them one day!

  • That's great @EricMatyas , seems you are loving your camera and taking photos.

I would love to start using your work, so for my peace of mind so I am sure I use non(c) stuff in my projects, so 100% of every single photo in your collection was taking by YOU?

  • How many times you want to ask this question? Maybe ask him to send you a letter of his lawyer or maybe just take your camera and take your own pictures....

  • That's a great idea, I had been thinking about buying a great quality camera to be honest :)

Well,  the file numbers of the pictures come right out of my camera.  (I don't rename them except that I add "_standard" or "_seamless.") If you want a letter or something stating that the images are mine, I'd be happy to do that. Feel free to email me if need be...my email address is at the bottom of my homepage.  :-)

    In the meantime...

I've uploaded a bunch of cool new metal, stone and bark texture images, both seamless and standard.

    They are here:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-metal/
    http://soundimage.org/txr-rockstone/
    http://soundimage.org/txr-bark/

I hope some of them are helpful.

Btw, my Soundimage Facebook page has been giving me trouble, so I've started a personal one:

    https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100017638394276

    Have a good week!  :-)

  • I've just uploaded over 100 new stone and metal texture images, standard and seamless, that I took at a couple of archaeological sites over the weekend. I think a lot of the stone textures could work well for VFX....(castles and other old structures.)

    You'll find them here:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-rockstone/
    http://soundimage.org/txr-metal/

    Have a good week!  :-)

  • Greetings!

I've uploaded about 100 new fabric texture images on my TXR - FABRIC page. They are all seamless, 2048X2048 and ready for tiling.

New fabric types include Leather, Rayon, Metal Linens, Dyed Acrylics and various weaves.

They might be useful in VFX for clothes for characters, furniture coverings, carpets, or anything else you can think of.

    You'll find them here:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-fabric/

I hope some of them are useful!   :-)

  • I've uploaded a bunch of new texture images, both seamless and standard, on the following pages:

    TXR - Brick
    http://soundimage.org/txr-brick/

    TXR - Metal
    http://soundimage.org/txr-metal/

    TXR - Wood
    http://soundimage.org/txr-wood/

If anyone happens to need a couple of distressed wooden door images, they are on my TXR - WOOD page as well. I think they look really cool. As always, feel free to edit as needed.

Btw, fur images on on their way...stay tuned!  :-)

  • 50 or so new metal textures are ready, both seamless and standard, on my TXR - METAL page.  You can find them here:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-metal/

Still working on carpet / fur / etc.

    Have a good week!

  • I suspect people don't comment here to avoid cluttering up your thread, but they, like me, are very grateful for what you're doing. THANKS! :)

Yes I'm in he same mind set as Palacono, Please accept my sincere thanks!

  • You guys are very welcome...I hope some of my images are helpful!

I've opened a fur textures page and uploaded about 70 images, both seamless and standard, to get it started. Some of them might be useful for other things, like carpets, rugs, etc. Some also have funky weaves so I included them for fun.

    You'll find them here:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-fur/

  • I've added about 50 new paper textures derived mostly from old book covers, but there are also some distressed blank pages. They are on my TXR - Paper page:

    http://soundimage.org/txr-paper/

Hope some of them are helpful!

  • I just uploaded about 40 new stone texture images, both standard and seamless, on my new TXR - Rock/Stone 2 page.

    http://soundimage.org/txr-rockstone-2/

    Enjoy!

  • A bunch of new wood texture images are ready, both standard and seamless, on my TXR - Wood page.

    http://soundimage.org/txr-wood/

I hope some of them are helpful.  :-)
