Feedback please

I am fairly new to filming and to hitfilm. I have been using it for my last 5 or 6 videos I've made. Any chance you all could give me some feedback on my videos? Here is a link to my newest video

I have recently been trying to make my gopro footage look cinematic to help document my family trips and activities. I am pretty new to all this so I would love some feedback from everyone.  Here is a link to my newest video

  • I have been using hitfilm for a while now and I feel like my footage looks kind of grainy when I export, especially if I do any color correcting /grading. The majority of my footage is shot in 1080 and I export in 1080, the footage just seems to be "dumbed down" or something and kind of grainy. Should I change my export settings? Maybe the bitrate? Please help!

I want to keep using hitfilm but I don't want blurry video.

  • I have been using hitfilm for a while now and I keep noticing that my footage seems to come out kind of blurry or grainy when I export it, this is especially true when I color grade at all. I usually film in at least 1080 but the footage doesn't look very crisp. What should I do? Should I change export settings? Bitrate? Something?

I want to keep using hitfilm, it's a great piece of software. But I'm not loving the blurry videos I'm getting, please help.

  • You really don't have to keep posting duplicate threads in different categories with different questions about the same video.

  • Don't mean to bother but I didn't want to ask a bunch of questions on one post and not get any responses. Just hoping to get some help. Any ideas what I can do for the grainy footage issue?

  • @Storminmormon05  I thought your camera movement was very stable for handheld shots.  Good job there.  Some of your camera angle really highlighted some nice scenery like the thumbnail above.  Having never been there I can't make any other useful points about scenery.  All in all a good job of editing and smooth transitions.

  • Thanks for feedback I appreciate it! I'm just getting started and I really appreciate constructive feedback.

  • @Triem23 any chance you could combine the 4 (or is it 5?) threads with this same video in it? And then delete this post? ;)

So... No suggestions on how to fix the grainy footage issue?

Are you starting with mp4 or Cineform footage from your GoPro?  What are your current export settings? You haven't given enough information yet for anyone to try to help you.

In the meantime, you should read this thread, which discusses certain relevant things about video compression that I don't feel like retyping.

Thanks for the help. I start with mp4 I believe. My export settings are

    1080 29.97 fps

    Profile:main

    Level: 4.0

Variable bitrate btw 10 and 15
