Tesla in Space

Did I just mutter the words "my shot looks to crisp"

  • In space . . . no one can hear the Art Director.

  • When I saw that on the news today, my first thought was of the animated movie Heavy Metal and how that would have fit right in with it.

@tddavis I'm sure Elon was thinking the same thing.

  • @Triem23 ; Oh, wow!  That brings back the good ol' days.  I knew that image was stuck in my brain for a reason, and that's why it brought my mind to Heavy Metal.  I haven't seen that in years.  I tried to find a copy once and never could.  I always like the final segment with the girl of the flying creature the best...and not because of teenage hormones.  That music that played was just ethereal and haunting to me, but ain't gonna lie she did have some nice assets.

  • @tddavis I about spewed coffee all over my keyboard reading that cause. That credits scene popped in my head and all I could do is imagine some alien going by after picking up a stray broadcast from Voyager of "Heavy Metal" then seeing this Tesla making its way through space while thinking. "Holy crap! We thought 'Heavy Metal' was just an animated movie!"

"You can tell it's real because it looks so fake, honestly." Musk went on to say that colors, in general, look strange in space, because "there's no atmospheric occlusion. Everything's too crisp," he said.

Interesting comment from Matrix Man...but I digress...

     - what is atmospheric occlusion? Air? Dust? Particulates?

@GrayMotion ; In nutshell, you nailed it.  This article I went and found cause you got me curious does a good job:

I never would have thought about that, but it makes total sense.  One thing it mentioned not on you list was moisture/water particular in the air.  Seems to me that would have to be the biggest difference.
