How to make lens flare more stationary, not auto which makes them jumpy and all over the place?

Using Ignite Pro plug-in on Avid MC 8.3.1

I'm trying to add some nice, soft lens flares to some scenes and I can't figure out how to make the keyframes work like they do on every other fx tool I use in Avid. No matter what I do with keyframes it does what it wants to do.

I'd like the lens flares to be more subtle and stationary but I guess they are forming off of where the light is in the shots and they are jumping all around the frame and they are small then big, bright then not. It's like a light show!

Any advice or link to tutorial would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Use Light Flares instead of Auto Light Flares?

  • I'm trying all sorts of variations. Just tried 'chromatic halo' and even within the same shot it's dancing around.

I can't see how to get keyframes to work. They seem to do nothing at all.

What I really want is something that isn't reading off the shot, something I can completely control so that it's smooth across cuts and the whole scene.

  • Chromatic Halo is a type of flare within Auto Light Flares. You need to add just the Light Flares effect instead.

Oh, okay, let me look at that. Thanks!

Yeah, that's it. Thanks again. New to Ignite so...
