Text Box Too Small

edited October 2016 in Pro Support

I've never noticed this before so I guess it recently started happening. In HitFilm 4 Pro and 4 Express, when I click and drag to create a text box it makes it much smaller than the boundary I drew. Doesn't require any setup, it can happen with a new project.

MacBook Pro 15" Retina Late 2013, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB, OSX El Capitan 10.11.5.

  • Works fine on my Windows installation with Nvidia 980 GPU. Might be a Mac specific quirk.

For comparison - Just checked on my iMac - the boundary stays as I make it.

    iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB, OSX Yosemite 10.10.5

It doesn't do it on my MBP 2016

    OS 10.11.5
    2,8 GHz i7
    16GB DDR3 1600MHz
    R9 M370X 2GB

It also does not do it on my PC

Windows 10, no clue what version number

    4GHz i7
    32GB DDR3 1600MHz
    R9 290X 8GB

Both have Hitfilm 4 Express and 4 Pro Demo.

I would try moving the preferences file out of it's folder and starting HitFilm to see if it does it again. If it does not change, move the preferences file back inside it's folder.

  •  That's really strange

  • Do any of the machines represented here involve Retina/HiDPI displays, other than the OP?

  • No Retina/HiDPI display here

Yes my MBP is Retina, when I tested yesterday I was using an external monitor, now that I am on the retina display the text box does bug

  • My display is Optoma HD141x 1920x1080 native 1920x1080 output, with no DPI adjustments @AxelWilkinson

I have also never come across this problem before, however I don't use the text tool that often.
